Team riders, Ray Mendoza, Ben Herken, Tayler Stewart, Liam Cliff and Maximilian Burkhardt all rode the sport category MTB cross country race at 7:30am Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we had a few rough spots in the day. Liam Cliff, riding his second MTB race had a fall about 3 miles into the race. Luckily, he didn't break anything but wasn't able to ride again for at least a week. Then, Ray Mendoza had an unfortunate mechanical breakdown that couldn't be fixed on the course. Ben Herken however, really benefited from the long climbs on this course and pulled a great time and 17th place finish for his category. Tayler was right behind Ben at 24th. Max came in 13th place with a total time of 1:43. Team Dad Ray Mendoza Sr. placed 5th in his Expert division! Everyone on the team also enjoyed the massive Sea Otter Festival, one of the largest bike fairs in the world.
