Commitment. We talked about it a few times this season. The above photo represents a part of the team that didn't need the commitment talk. They were always there, regardless of where the race took us. For this race, these parents drove two hours to stand in freezing , pouring rain while their kids were out playing in the mud. A few of us camped the night before with Harbor High. It rained all night. Coach Roads secured a table under a shed roof which only slowed the rain from keeping him awake all night. Thanks to Gail Macdonald for helping with our Spaghetti dinner and thanks to Connie for the much needed morning Starbucks coffee!
This was it! This was the race we all know happens once a season. Its why we don't cancel practice when its pouring rain (well, maybe we did once). Abi actually suggested it was one of her favorite races...the girls raced first- the guys had to ride the chewed up mess that remained.
