This was the race that almost didn't happen... It was Spring break. With Carl in Boston, (helping bring home a huge Chamber Choir trophy), Michael trekking in India and Abi in Mexico helping one of our sponsors with Surf camp, we thought we would write this race off. But after maintaining a top ten standing for the team at Folsom Lake, we decided to do what we could to try to save the season. Taras, Kai and Max stepped up to the plate, went to Salinas and helped keep the team in the game. Without Abi racing, we knew we would lose one third of our points, but due to the efforts of Taras, Kai and Max, we only slipped to 13th place.
Former team rider, Dylan MacDonald is also pictured above. He is working on establishing a team at Santa Cruz high, but clearly maintains his Kirby MTB team heritage. We owe thanks to the MacDonalds and Stephen Royal for keeping the Kirby MTB team alive last year.
