March 9th, 2014, Granite Bay, on Lake Folsom

 

Yesterday's podium was not only our second of the season, but it was also a second place team finish!   After two races, we are now in a very solid second place overall position, with total points of 3986 vs. 3916 for third place.

 

We talked about a goal of every rider moving just one place forward from individual finishes at the last race,,, and our team delivered!  While the course was probably one of the most fun MTB trails we've ever ridden (the trail was still moist from earlier rains and was in perfect condition), from a competition standpoint it certainly presented some challenges.   Granite Bay is tricky in that there is very little climbing, very few places to pass and the technical sections are very well, technical (for a race course).  Our riders are strong climbers and this course didn't offer any opportunity to use this advantage. Regardless, our members were very focused and cranked out excellent results in fairly warm, humid conditions.

 

Individual results, in order of starts;

 

Geneva took a 5th place podium in girls JV and Alice was just a few seconds behind in 6th place.

 

Chester moved up two full positions to 6th place.  There is no doubt that Chester is on track for a podium finish by the end of the season.

 

Adam and Kesh finished at 16th and 17th place, this is a two position move for Kesh.

 

Kyle came in 12th place, and wow, what a scary race that was!  Varsity boys race for 25 miles!

 

Our JV boys all made large placement moves with Aubrey coming in 25th, Ramsey finishing in 19th place and Jordan breaking solidly into the top 10 with an outstanding 8th place finish!  Click here for pictures.
